Description

A HISTORIC MOVEMENT BEGINS IN SACRAMENTO

For the first time in history, U.S. citizens are organizing en masse to take a stand for AI legislation. This is our moment to draw a line in the sand with CA Assembly Bill 412, as creators and performers are defending their work from unauthorized, uncompensated AI exploitation.

Our intention: 500 people lined up around the block to testify in support of the bill and send a message through California to the national stage.

What we're fighting for

AB 412 requires AI companies to:

  • Document what copyrighted material they use to train their systems
  • Respond to creators' requests about their stolen work within 30 days
  • Not use AI to create new works without permission

This bill establishes the principle that human creativity has value and cannot be taken without permission or payment.

Why This Matters Now

AI companies have scraped decades of creative work—your photos, art, films, music, performances, writing—to build multi-billion-dollar systems. They've argued this theft is "fair use" while encouraging users to generate content that mimics your work, your style, your intellectual property. The stakes are existential:

  • Visual artists seeing their techniques replicated without compensation
  • Writers watching AI systems replicate their work
  • Musicians' musical style used in content they never approved

Why Sacramento, Why Now

AB 412 will be heard by the California Senate Judiciary Committee this Fall. California sets the standard for tech regulation nationwide. If we win here, we create a template for federal action and set a precedent for the rest of the country.

This has never been attempted before. No large group of creators has ever mobilized to testify for AI protection legislation. We have the chance to make history and send an unmistakable message: the era of consequence-free AI theft is over.
